Weights and Measures….Something I’ve been wondering about lately. Today I’m feeling blessed and can honestly say that I’m grateful for the tough times. Sounds a little like an oxymoron I know but had we not experienced pain at some level, we wouldn’t appreciate the little things we take for granted. Take for instance our senses; losing even one of them can be a huge inconvenience to us. Sometimes a burn or bad paper cut can slow down the process to nearly a halt. Water or electricity, heat or air, we go about our days without giving them a fleeting thought, but nearly fall to pieces when they falter.

I believe little inconveniences occur to make us realize how much we have to be thankful for. They are in a sense blessings in disguise. The setbacks often play intricate roles in our personal growth and development. I don’t know if any of us will ever reach that place of pure contentment with ourselves, however I believe we should at least slow down enough to attempt to take joy in the journey. We discover a new appreciation for things we take advantage of on a daily basis when they malfunction. Here is a list of 7 things we can do to improve our outlook and not get so worked up when things don’t go as planned.

1.) Ask
2.) Be Still
3.) Close Your Eyes
4.) Day Dream
5.) Encourage
6.) Forgive
7.) Give

PLUS…. For Your Enjoyment (5 BONUS Habits)

8.) Hear
9.) Integrity
10.) Listen Watch
11.) Touch
12.) Enjoy the Ride

Being able to gauge favorable development is rewarding. It may be difficult to see changes on a daily basis, but improving and moving in the right direction little by little every day will surely pay off. A sense of worth is gained when it is earned over time. We reside in a time and place of unrest if results are not immediate. This is an unfortunate twist of events. I’ve learned over time to appreciate the trials because had I not experienced pain I wouldn’t truly know what joy is. Having to have gone without has made me more lovable, understanding and considerate. There are gifts in struggle… Struggles make us more perceptive and a little less naive. Now who can’t use more of that?

I’ve found it helpful to try and remember to live my days as if tomorrow may never come. It helps me to be more kind overall. Not that I’m always on my best behavior
